Terminator Genisys Superbowl Trailer

After the rather disappointing ‘Terminator Genisys’ teaser trailer, it looks as though we’re getting our first glimpse at the new Terminator…

It’s no secret that the first teaser trailer failed to impress. After all, it featured plenty of cheesy one-liners, over-the-top action and a not-quite-nostalgic frolic through the history of the ‘Terminator’ franchise… all while ripping apart any respect we had for the movies.

Still, the second trailer isn’t quite so bad… and gives us our first look at a new kind of Terminator.

This new trailer will appear during the Superbowl… but appeared online today thanks to a rather cool reveal by Arnold Schwarzenegger himself.

“I’m excited to give you guys a first look at our Terminator Genisys spot for the big game,” he said via his official Facebook page. “No matter what happens on the field, you’re going to see some serious action Sunday. ‪#‎terminator”

New Terminator

Of course, this new trailer focusses on how ‘Genisys’ will reset the timeline of the ‘Terminator’ franchise… and even shows an older, grizzled Arnie squaring off against his younger self.

Kinda cool… if a tad weird.

But it’s the new model of Terminator that seems to be causing quite a stir… and with its new, sleeker design and more human-like appearance, it’s not quite what we had in mind.

Obviously, this new model deviates somewhat from the Terminator’s we’ve come to expect. But is that such a bad thing? ‘Terminator 2: Judgement Day’ saw the Terminator re-invented as a liquid-metal menace.

But I can’t help thinking this new model isn’t quite the same.

Still, it’s early days… and he could prove to be a lot more menacing than we first thought. But after the previous trailer, I’m not exactly filled with hope.

‘Terminator Genisys’ heads to cinemas on 3 July 2015.
