Supergirl TV Show Casts Cyborg Superman?

Cyborg Superman

It looks as though the upcoming ‘Supergirl’ TV series will unveil some characters from Superman’s past… including someone who could end up becoming a Cyborg Superman.

According to the folks at TVLine, a number of supporting Superman characters will appear in the upcoming ‘Supergirl’ series… some of which sounds an awful lot like the New 52.

The series, produced by Greg Berlanti of ‘Arrow’ and ‘The Flash’ is currently casting some familiar characters… and we’ve got the full list below.

[Wonder Woman Will Be Set In The 1920s?]

“Cat Grant: The project is eyeing females in their 40s, open ethnicity, to play the founder of CatCo, a media conglomerate that Cat built from the ground up. Kara (Supergirl’s mild-mannered alter ego) will work as a personal assistant to Cat, who is described as ‘J.Lo by way of Anna Wintour’.”

“James Olsen: In his late 20s/early 30s, open ethnicity, James is a smart, worldly and (duh) attractive photographer for CatCo. Though an alpha male, his salt-of-the-earth nature elicits a huge ol’ crush from Kara.”

Of course, Jimmy Olsen appearing in ‘Supergirl’ isn’t exactly a huge surprise… but it certainly sounds as though this character is open to interpretation. But it’s the next two casting descriptions that are the most interesting…

“Winslow ‘Wynn’ Schott: This twenty-something tech whiz/Comic-Con stalwart toils for CatCo as a programmer, unaware of his own (toying?) potential. Unaware of her secret, he carries a torch for Kara, whom he lives next door to.”

Schott is perhaps best known in the comic book as the Toyman – a supervillain who creates deadly gadgets which are concealed to look like children’s toys. And it’s Schott who kills Cat Grant’s son… even if it later turned out to be an imposter.

“Hank Henshaw: As an upstart CIA agent, Hank grew obsessed with intergalactic intel. Now in his 40s and lording over the DEO (Department of Extra-Normal Operations), he is on high alert when Supergirl reveals herself, worried that her otherworldly abilities pose a threat to humankind.”

[Cara Delevigne Rumoured For Suicide Squad]

Of course, the big question here is whether Hank Henshaw will become Cyborg Superman. It’s certainly interesting that he’ll be heading up the DEO… and it opens the doorway for any number of other Superman/Supergirl characters. But will he becoming Cyborg Superman or will that end up being Zor-El as in the New 52?

For now, we’ll have to wait and see… but with casting going on right now and a full series commitment for next Autumn, it won’t be long before we see ‘Supergirl’ take to our screens.
