Shailene Woodley Still Interested In Spider-Man

Shailene Woodley Spider-Man

It looks as though Shailene Woodley is still interested in ‘Spider-Man’… as she admits she’s love to appear in the upcoming movie.

It’s no secret that Mary-Jane Watson was cut from ‘The Amazing Spider-Man 2’… and that meant Shailene Woodley’s appearance went down the plughole. But after fans warmed to the casting choice, could we see her reprise the role in the upcoming reboot?

It seems she’s more than willing to give it another shot.

During an interview with Clevver Movies, the 23-year-old ‘Divergent’ star admitted that she’d love to play Mary-Jane Watson in the new ‘Spider-Man’ movies.

“Oh, yeah,” she said when asked if she’d want to return to the role. “I didn’t know that, actually,” she said of the upcoming reboot. “That’s amazing. Heck yeah!”

Of course, Shailene was all ready to make her ‘Spider-Man’ debut in ‘The Amazing Spider-Man 2’ opposite Andrew Garfield’s webslinger… but the role was eventually cut in what was an already packed-out movie.

Although fans were disappointed to see Mary-Jane cut from the film, it seems like it may have been the right choice to focus on Peter and Gwen’s relationship instead – especially given the rather tragic circumstances.

But now that (another) reboot is underway, could we see Mary-Jane?

Even if the character is set to return in the new ‘Spider-Man’ movies, I get the feeling that it’s unlikely we’ll see Shailene Woodley recast in the role. After all, Marvel and Sony reportedly want to reboot the franchise with a teenage cast.

Still, it’s nice to see that she’s still interested in the role after being cut from ‘The Amazing Spider-Man 2’.

But could she appear in another, different Marvel role? For now, we’ll have to wait and see.

The new ‘Spider-Man’ movie heads to cinemas on 28 July 2017.

Do you think Shailene Woodley should return as Mary-Jane? Would you like to see her in a different Marvel role? Let us know what you think in the comments below…
