Sam Strike In Talks For Leatherface

Sam Smith Leatherface

After rumours that Sam Strike had landed a role in a big Hollywood movie, it looks as though he may be in talks for ‘Leatherface’.

Touted as a ‘Texas Chainsaw Massacre’ prequel, ‘Leatherface’ follows a teenager named Jackson as he sets off down the road to becoming a cannibal killer – growing up to become Leatherface.

And it looks as though Sam Strike has landed the lead…

According to The Wrap, the 21-year-old British actor is still in negotiations for the part… a film which could prove to be his breakout role.

“Sam Strike is in negotiations to star in ‘Leatherface’, the ‘Texas Chainsaw Massacre’ prequel that is coming together at Millennium Films,” they revealed. “Strike is nearing a deal to play Jackson, the teenager who grows up to be Leatherface.”

But according to Strike’s agent, it’s pretty much a done deal.

Of course, this news comes after speculation that Sam Strike could be up for the role of Peter Parker in the new ‘Spider-Man’ series… but it looks as though that was probably just wishful thinking on behalf of his fans.

Still, a role in ‘Leatherface’ could be quite a coup for the young actor. And while it’s probably not the kind of role he imagined, it could well be the start of a Hollywood career.

“The film is expected to serve as an origin story that follows Leatherface’s early years in the 1970s,” said The Wrap. “Julien Maury and Alexandre Bustillo, the French filmmakers behind cult hit “Inside,” are directing the horror movie, which was written by up-and-coming genre scribe Seth M. Sherwood.”

Of course, Sam Strike is best known for the role of Johnny Carter in ‘EastEnders’… so this is quite a different kind of job. But will he make a great Leatherface? It all depends on what the ‘Texas Chainsaw Massacre’ prequel is trying to achieve.

But either way, it’s good news for Strike.
