Quicksilver To Get An X-Men Spin-Off?

Evan Peters as Quicksilver

A spectacular debut in ‘X-Men: Days of Future Past’ saw Quicksilver fast become a fan favourite… But could Evan Peters get his own solo film as the superfast mutant?

After stealing the show in the recent ‘X-Men’ movie, it looks as though fans are desperate to see Evan Peters return as the young speedster, Quicksilver. But will this mean an appearance in the upcoming ‘X-Men: Apocalypse’? It looks as though we can expect a lot more than that, with rumoured plans that he’ll get his own film.

In an interview with Newsarama, ‘X-Men: Days of Future Past’ second unit director Brian Smrz explained that Quicksilver will return in ‘X-Men: Apocalypse’. But that might not be the last we see of him.

“Well, there will be another Quicksilver scene [in Apocalypse], which I’m looking forward to,” he explained. “That’ll be fun.”

But it seems there have already been discussions to extend the new mutant’s contract to include his own movie.

“We talked about Quicksilver before,” he added. “I’d love to do a Quicksilver as a solo film because there’s a lot to enjoy with that character. But I’m not geared just towards superhero movies; for me it’s about great main characters, and finding movies that have that.”

For those who may not know, Smrz was responsible for the rather awesome kitchen scene in ‘Days of Future Past’ – arguably Quicksilver’s greatest scene in the entire film, and one that really shows off the awesome power of young Pietro Maximoff.

“I ended up doing a lot of that,” he revealed. “I did most of it, to be honest. I have a great relationship with Bryan Singer, and he really let me do a lot there. The scenes where they enter, as well as parts where they’re frozen – I did most of it. It’s very time consuming, especially with the phantom camera and the rain. Bryan was there and did some of the key parts, but I did the rest.”

He’s clearly keen to work with Quicksilver once more… and so perhaps a solo movie for the quick-footed mutant is fairly high on his wish list. But will a Quicksilver movie ever see the light of day? If you ask me, it’s a rather excellent idea. After all, the fans are clearly eager to see more. But for now, we’ll have to wait and see.

Do you think Quicksilver deserves his own solo outing? Can Evan Peters’ superfast mutant carry his own film? Let us know what you think in the comments below…
