After taking on a mechanical menace in Edgar Wright’s ‘The World’s End’ it looks as though Nick Frost is heading back to sci-fi for the ‘Doctor Who’ Christmas Special.
He’s battled zombies, gone up against mechanical alien robots and even travelled across the USA with a little green man… and now Nick Frost is about to embark on his biggest sci-fi adventure – appearing in ‘Doctor Who’. The 42-year-old British actor is well known for his comic acting ability. And maybe he’ll bring a bit of that to ‘Doctor Who’ this Christmas.
“I’m so thrilled to have been asked to guest in the Doctor Who Christmas Special,” he told the BBC. “I’m such a fan of the show. The read-through was very difficult for me; I wanted to keep stuffing my fingers into my ears and scream ‘No spoilers!’ Every day on set I’ve had to silence my internal fan-boy squeals!”
And it looks as though Steven Moffat is happy to have him on set.
“I worked with Nick on the Tintin movie many years ago,” he said. “It’s a real pleasure to lure him back to television for a ride on the TARDIS.”
But he’s certainly not alone. In fact, he’ll be joining a host of British acting talent such as Michael Troughton (son of previous Doctor, Patrick Troughton), Nathan McMullane and even former Corrie star, Natalie Gumede.
But what’s this Christmas Special all about?
So far, we have almost no idea… but with Michael Troughton in the picture, could we be heading back into the Doctor’s past? Could this even tie into the recent events of the episode, ‘Listen’?
The ‘Doctor Who’ Christmas Special will air on BBC One, presumably on Christmas Day, 2014. And with a host of British acting talent, I can’t help thinking this is going to be one to remember.
