Mark Hamill Cast As Trickster In The Flash

Mark Hamill Trickster

After appearing as The Trickster in the 90’s comic book TV series, Mark Hamill will reprise his role in ‘The Flash’.

He may be best known as Luke Skywalker in the original ‘Star Wars’ trilogy, but Mark Hamill has long been crowned the king of geeks. He’s voiced The Joker in the hit animated  TV series and even landed a role in ‘Jay And Silent bob Strike Back’. But now the sci-fi icon will return to the role of The Trickster in an upcoming episode of ‘The Flash’.

According to HitFix, the 63-year-old ‘Star Wars’ actor will appear as the classic Flash villain, Jesse James – a conman and practical joker who is renowned for attacking opponents with the likes of exploding teddy bears.

“Mark Hamill returns in a brand new interpretation of James Jesse (aka The Trickster), a role he originated on the 90’s ‘Flash’ series,” they revealed. “In this new iteration, The Trickster is an anarchist terrorist conman serving a life sentence in Iron Heights who helps Barry (Grant Gustin) and Det. West (Jesse L. Martin) to foil the city-wide attacks of a wannabe Trickster eagerly following in the original’s deadly footsteps.”

Of course, this homage to the original ‘90s TV show is a welcome nod for the fans… but it’s a lot more than that. Hamill may be best known for the role of Luke Skywalker, but he’s also a rather accomplished actor. And I can’t help thinking that ‘The Flash’ would benefit from such stellar casting.

“Having Mark reprise his role as The Trickster was on our original wish list when we were planning our version of The Flash,” said Executive Producer Andrew Kreisberg. “We are beyond humbled and excited to have him joining us for another round of deadly trickery!”

Of course, quite how this plays out remains to be seen… and with Hamill appearing in the upcoming 17th episode, it might be a little while before we get to find out here in the UK. But if you ask me, things won’t be as straight-forward as they seem.

Will The Trickster pull a fast one on Barry Allen? I think that much is a given. And it’ll be an absolute delight to find out how it all goes down.
