The Flash Gets A Solo Movie

The Flash

After plenty of rumours, ‘The Flash’ solo movie has finally been announced… and 22-year-old Ezra Miller will play the fastest man alive.

It’s been a long time coming – ‘The Flash’ was rumoured way back at last year’s San Diego Comic Con… but while DC fans expected news of the scarlet speedster, everything just went quiet. Thankfully, Warner Bros. has since broken their silence, revealing that the rumoured film will be heading to cinemas in 2018. And Ezra Miller will be taking the title role.

Warner Bros. CEO Kevin Tsujihara revealed during a call to investors that ‘The Flash’ will head to cinemas by 2018… and it was soon followed up by an official press release.

“In a massive expansion of the Studio’s DC Entertainment-branded content, Warner Bros. Pictures and New Line Cinema will release a slate of at least 10 movies,” it explained… and they soon unveiled ‘The Flash’ to be among them.

But what does this mean for the recently launched ‘The Flash’ TV show?

Although The CW’s ‘The Flash’ is still yet to make it to UK television screens, it’s no secret that the impressive new series is doing rather well. And while Grant Gustin continues to turn heads as Barry Allen, it looks as though he definitely won’t be joining Ben Affleck on set for ‘Justice League’.

Ezra Miller – best known for ‘We Need To Talk About Kevin’ and ‘The Perks of Being A Wallflower’ – takes the role instead. But will this plucky, young actor fit in alongside the big and burly heroes we’ve seen so far?

If you ask me, it’s a bit of an odd choice… especially considering the enormous difference in stature between him and the other members of the ‘Justice League’ that we’ve seen so far. Of course, The Flash doesn’t exactly need to be big and burly. But will the age difference work on screen? Can Ezra Miller really hold his own alongside the imposing Affleck and Cavill?

For now, we’ll have to wait and see… but I get the feeling we might take some convincing.

What do you think of Ezra Miller as The Flash? Will he really fit in with the rest of the Justice League? Let us know what you think in the comments below…
