Crossbones Revealed In Captain America: Civil War Set Photos

Frank Grillo Crossbones

It looks as though Frank Grillo’s Crossbones has finally been unveiled on the set of  ‘Captain America: Civil War’… and he looks all kinds of awesome.

The appearance of Crossbones in the upcoming ‘Civil War’ is no big surprise. After all, actor Frank Grillo has really been getting into the spirit of the role as he taunts Cpatin America via Twitter. But with Brock Rumlow tapped out in ‘The Winter Soldier’, it seems he’s regrouped and geared up before taking on Cap and friends.

And he looks incredible.

The following scenes (via Just Jared) are said to represent an African village – presumably Black Panther’s home of Wakanda – where Captain America and the Falcon face off against their old enemy, Brock Rumlow.

Of course, fans of the films will remember him from ‘The Winter Soldier’ – when he tried (and failed) to take on Captain America during HYDRA’s takeover of S.H.I.E.L.D. But now the iconic ‘Captain America’ villain is back with a vengeance… and a bit of an upgrade.

This time round, he’s sporting a rather intimidating combat helmet along with a gritty, urban combat look. In some ways, it’s very similar to his S.H.I.E.L.D. getup, but with the addition of his trademark skull and crossbones iconography. In fact, it’s a far more subtle take on the character than the comic books – fitting his trademark look into a tactical combat suit.

But those pneumatic-looking fists are something else entirely.

Of course, this seems to be based on the original comic book character. Although Crossbones is renowned for his traditional weapon skills, he also possessed a pair of spring-loaded stiletto gauntlets. And it looks as though Marvel has used them for inspiration.

Either way, it’s an incredibly menacing take on Crossbones. And we can’t wait to see how Frank Grillo takes on Cap and co in the upcoming Civil War.

‘Captain America: Civil War’ heads to cinemas on 29 April 2016
