After rumours of extended filming, ‘Batman V Superman’ could head to cinemas as a rather epic two-parter… but would DC really go that far?
It’s no secret that ‘Batman V Superman’ has had a rather lengthy production schedule… and it’s led some to speculate that Zack Snyder may be producing the upcoming ‘Justice League’ movie back-to-back with ‘Batman V Superman’. But could there be another reason?
A new rumour suggests that ‘Batman V Superman’ has been split into two parts. But is there any truth to it?
According to a mysterious image that’s doing the rounds (via Ain’t It Cool News), the upcoming ‘Batman V Superman’ movie will be released in two very distinct parts.
The first is clearly titled ‘Enter The Knight’ and is listed for release on 23 October 2015. Of course, this puts the movie a good five months ahead of ‘Batman V Superman’s original date. Part two – supposedly given the original title ‘Dawn of Justice’ – takes the original release as a follow-up.
But let’s be clear – this is a wild rumour… and almost certainly false.
For one thing, the image is very low quality and doesn’t seem to state the date in Warner Bros’ usual convention. And let’s be honest – anyone could create an image like this and post it online… even if it does seem to tally with what we’ve been hearing about the film’s lengthy shoot.
But would Warner Bros. really split ‘Batman V Superman’ in two?
It certainly sounds like a reasonable way of introducing Batman into the world of ‘Man of Steel’… and would give the filmmakers a bit more room to have fun with the characters as they line them up for a big-screen face off.
But it looks as though this is one rumour that’s been almost instantly debunked… by none other than Superman himself.
“Henry Cavill says ‘Batman v Superman’ won’t be split into two movies,” said Variety reporter Ramin Setoodeh from the BAFTA tea party. Pretty conclusive stuff, and it sounds as though this is one rumour we can chalk up as a fake.
Of course, it’s no real surprise, given that DC has been quite open about its upcoming film slate right up until 2020. And it seemed unlikely that an impending ‘Batman V Superman’ movie would be sprung upon the fans with little notice.
Still, it’s an interesting idea, especially given that the ‘Justice League’ movie is confirmed to be heading our way in two parts, in 2017 and 2019.
‘Batman V Superman: Dawn of Justice’ heads to cinemas on 25 March 2016.
